In this blog post, we will list 13 places where specific industry clusters are located, there are many other places with different featured business focuses in China, if we get a chance, we can write more of that.
1. Guangzhou–women’s clothing, beauty and cosmetics, textile fabric
Guangzhou has a total area of 7434.40 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 18.8106 million at the end of 2021 and a GDP of 2.82 trillion yuan in 2021; the capital of Guangdong Province, the political, economic, technological, educational, and cultural center; an important national central city, International business center and comprehensive transportation hub; with a history of more than 2,200 years, the origin of the ancient Maritime Silk Road; the oldest and only port of entry for foreign trade in China that has never been closed. With the advanced commercial background, several industry clusters appeared, and the fashion industry is one of the most important. Guangzhou’s fashion industry mainly includes women’s fashion apparel & accessories, and beauty & cosmetics. There are many wholesale women’s clothing markets, we also discussed this in our blog post(加内链), and a lot of factories manufacture cosmetic products and beauty equipment in this city. Zhongda commercial circle is 1 of the biggest in the textile fabric industry, the other one is Keqiao Town in Shaoxing City.
Guangzhou is far more than these three industrial zones, there are others such as the tea market, auto parts market, shoe material market, jewelry and jade market, bags and leather goods market, etc.
2. Shenzhen–digital electronics
Shenzhen, known as the Silicon Valley of the East, is the most dynamic and innovative city. This young immigrant city is also a paradise for electronic and digital products. 3. Dalang Town in Dongguan–sweater and knitwear
Sweater and knitwear is one of the most important industries in Dalang. In 2020, the market transaction volume of Dalang’s woolen weaving industry chain will reach 60 billion yuan, with an annual output of 800 million sweaters, accounting for 18% of the national output. “One out of every six sweaters in the world is produced in Dalang.” As of 2020, there are 17,243 wool weaving enterprises in Dalang town, including 168 above-standard enterprises, with an industrial population of 200,000 and an annual output of 800 million sweaters. Wool weaving and yarn enterprises have more than 200 related patents. The annual market transaction volume of the whole industry chain such as yarn and textile machinery reaches 60 billion yuan.
4. Lecong Town and Longjiang Town in Foshan–furniture
Lecong has the title of China’s furniture business capital. There are many large furniture markets, mainly the four major shopping malls of Louvre Furniture Expo Center, Red Star Macalline, Shunde Dynasty Furniture, and Shunlian Furniture City North District. All these markets are doing retail and wholesale.
Compared to Lecong, very few people know Longjiang Town. There are many furniture factories located here, if we are buying in large quantities or customized, this is the place where we should source from.
5. Zhongshan Guzhen–lighting
The lighting industry is the leading industry in Guzhen Town in Zhongshan and is also the economic pillar of Guzhen. Since its development in 1982, after nearly 30 years of cultivation and development, it has formed a lighting industry cluster with Guzhen as the center, covering the surrounding three cities and 11 townships, with an annual output value of more than 100 billion yuan, becoming one of the world’s several major lighting professional markets and the largest lighting professional production base and wholesale market in China.
6. Chenhai District in Shantou–toy
China is a key player in the global toys market, while Guangdong is a key player in China, and Chenhai is a key player in Guangdong.
The toy industry is the first pillar industry of Chenghai’s industrial economy. Chenghai toys have always been famous for their exports. In recent years, the toy and gift industry in Chenghai District has grown at an average annual rate of about 14%, and 70% of its products are exported to more than 140 countries and regions in the world. As of the end of 2018, there were 27,000 toy production and operation units in Chenghai District, which have formed professional division of labor and cooperation in modeling design, raw material supply, mold processing, parts manufacturing, assembly and molding, packaging and decoration, animation products, exhibition trade, and sales and transportation. The output value of the toy industry reached 54.6 billion yuan.
7. Yiwu–gift, small commodity
Yiwu is the largest small commodity distribution center in the world. International authorities such as the United Nations and the World Bank have identified it as the world’s largest market. Many people started to understand Yiwu from small commodities. Anyone who does small commodity business in China knows that Yiwu can find the most complete variety of small commodities at the cheapest price.

8. Yonggang–hardware

The output value of the hardware industry accounts for about 90% of the city’s total. 9. Zhili in Huzhou–kid’s clothing
Zhili Town is famous for the production of children’s clothing. In history, the weaving industry in Zhili Town was quite prosperous. There are records of “heard the sound of the machine” in historical materials, Zhi means the action of weave, and “Zhili” was named after it. Zhili is the country’s largest production base and sales market for children’s clothing, and kid’s clothing is the largest leading industry in Zhili Town.
10. Datang Town in Zhuji –socks
Datang Town, Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province is known as the “hometown of Chinese socks”, Zhuji Datang socks industry has become the largest special industrial zone with Datang Town as the center, radiating the surrounding districts and counties, and has been established as the largest socks production base and the most growing industry in Zhejiang Province in the 21st century. The annual output of socks is more than 6 billion pairs, with a turnover of more than 7 billion yuan, accounting for 65% of the national output and occupying nearly 1/3 of the world’s socks production.
11. Nantong–home textile
Nantong is the birthplace of the national modern textile industry and a world-famous textile hometown. Nantong’s home textile industry has developed into the largest professional home textile market in the country. There are more than 3,800 enterprises and more than 10,000 merchants in Nantong. The products are exported to more than 150 countries and regions. The foreign trade import and export volume exceeds 10 billion US dollars, accounting for half of the country’s home textile industry.
12. Shishi–casual clothing
The textile and garment industry is the pillar industry of the Shishi economy. Shishi is a famous city for casual clothing in China, as well as the birthplace and distribution center of the “Fujian style” clothing industry. It has spontaneously formed a textile and clothing industry chain centered on clothing processing and production.
13. Jinjiang–sports shoe
Jinjiang, the shoe capital of China, is the country’s largest sports shoe industry information base, Jinjiang Chendai is the country’s largest shoe production (currently 8.5% of the world’s output), processing and trade base. The products are complete, and there are super first-class production equipment and a complete enterprise chain, and a large number of famous brand enterprise clusters, and the market is mature.
