Quick Summary: To compare auto parts quotations from Chinese suppliers, put each offer against the same part specification, quantity, unit, packing requirement and delivery scope. Keep exclusions and unanswered questions visible before calculating a comparable order total. A lower unit price is useful only when you know what that price buys and what remains to be arranged. BuyFromGuangzhou can help clarify supplier replies and carry the buyer-approved specification into purchasing and receiving records.
You have supplier replies for the same replenishment list, but the columns do not line up. One quotation may price a brake-pad set while another quotes “per piece” without stating how many pieces make up the required set. A lamp offer may show the housing without saying whether the pictured modules are included. A lower goods total starts to look less useful when you cannot tell whether both suppliers have priced the order you need.
When I compare auto parts quotations from Chinese suppliers, I keep the original replies beside the comparison sheet. Tidying the numbers too early can hide the exact sentence that changes the offer. My first decision is which lines can already be compared and which need a specific answer.
Which quoted lines describe the same order?
Start with the supplier's quoted product and trace it back to your requested line. Keep the full reference, version, side and supplied contents together. An OE reference helps connect the discussion, but a matching number on a quotation alone does not prove the offered item's fitment, manufacturer or condition.
If the supplier offered an alternative, give that offer its own clearly marked row. Leave the original requirement visible. A different brand, material specification or lamp assembly scope may be worth considering, but the buyer needs to decide whether that difference is acceptable before the prices are ranked.
Then check the unit and quantity behind the price. For brake parts, a piece, a pair and an axle set need explicit contents. For mixed replenishment, ask whether the minimum applies per SKU, per version or to the whole order. If a price requires more stock than you plan to buy, record the actual purchase quantity and cash commitment. A discount for unwanted inventory does not answer the current buying decision.
If your offers come from both marketplaces, our 1688 vs Alibaba for auto parts comparison explains how quantity tiers and delivery scope affect the buying route. Keep those conditions attached to each offer here.
Worked example: invented figures, not market prices or a real quotation. For this illustration, define the required set as four brake pads plus one fitting kit, and assume an order of 10 sets.
Offer A says CNY 38 “per piece,” with set contents and fitting kits unspecified. Offer B says CNY 160 per four-pad set including one fitting kit. If A confirms that “piece” means one pad, its pads alone total 10 × 4 × CNY 38 = CNY 1,520. B's defined sets total 10 × CNY 160 = CNY 1,600.
A's fitting kits are still unpriced. Neither figure is a delivered-order total: packing, checks and delivery must also be aligned. I would ask A to quote the complete requested set at the required quantity before choosing between the offers.
Compare auto parts quotations from Chinese suppliers on one sheet
I use one column for the buyer's requirement and a separate column for each supplier's actual reply. The table below shows the fields to align; it contains no supplier offers or assumed prices. Retain the quote date and revision so a later message cannot silently replace an earlier commitment.
Fields to align before comparing supplier quotations Comparison field Record from each quotation Resolve before ranking Part and supplied contents Full reference, version, side, brand/condition claim and included accessories Same requested item or a separately approved alternative? Unit, quantity and minimum Pieces per set, purchase quantity and MOQ basis Does the price apply to this exact mixed order? Packing and labels Individual protection, dividers, labels and outer-carton requirements Included, separately priced or awaiting confirmation? Quality and checks Agreed specification, evidence offered and inspection scope What can be checked, by whom, and against which requirement? Timing Lead-time trigger, dispatch point and any separate delivery estimate Which event does the quoted date describe? Delivery scope Trade term, version, named place and itemized inclusions What work and cost remain before the same comparison endpoint? Payment and validity Currency, payment stages, conditions and expiry Are the price and terms still offered for this purchase?
Use plain notes such as “confirmed,” “excluded,” and “awaiting supplier reply.” An empty packing cell is unknown. It should not enter your calculation as free packing. Send the unresolved rows back as focused questions rather than asking the supplier to explain the entire quotation again.
What still needs paying for at the same delivery point?
Choose an endpoint that makes sense for the order: for example, goods received at the agreed Guangzhou warehouse with the specified packing and checks. Compare each offer at that same endpoint. Separate the goods subtotal from confirmed additional packing, domestic movement, checking and handling charges where applicable. Add each charge once, and keep estimated and unquoted costs visible beside the confirmed total.
A supplier may already include a service that another quotes separately. Trace each cost back to an inclusion or exclusion before adding it. If quotations use different currencies, record the common comparison currency and the dated conversion basis you actually use; keep the original quoted amounts alongside it.
Trade terms need the same care. The ICC's introduction to Incoterms 2020 explains that the chosen rule should identify the named port, place or point and the rules version; payment terms and product specifications still belong in the sale agreement. For the origin-side difference, our EXW vs FOB for auto parts from China covers that boundary. Here, the question is whether both offers have been compared over the same agreed scope.
A dispatch estimate is only one date in your stock plan
Read the event behind the lead time. Does it start after deposit, specification confirmation or sample approval? Does it finish at factory dispatch, arrival at your receiving warehouse or another named point? Put those conditions beside the date. Avoid converting a supplier's dispatch estimate into a promised arrival date.
For a mixed order, one supplier's later line may affect which goods can join the planned batch. Ask whether ready items can move separately and what that would change in packing, charges and the outstanding balance. You can then compare a full-order offer with a split-delivery alternative explicitly, without assuming they serve the same stock plan.
A housing photo leaves the checking scope open
A supplier may send a clear photo of a lamp housing and mark the item “checked.” I still want to know what was checked against the agreed requirement: the label and version, supplied accessories, counted quantity, packaging or visible condition. If the purchase requires a functional test, material verification or a particular compliance document, define that requirement and its evidence separately. The housing photo leaves those questions open.
Our guide to China auto parts quality control explains the receiving stage in more detail. For quote comparison, keep the agreed check and its cost on the same row as the product requirement. A higher price by itself proves no quality advantage; an unsupported “same quality” reply leaves the comparison unresolved.
Keep the chosen quotation useful when cartons arrive
Once the important differences are answered, decide which offer fits the required parts, stock quantity, timing and delivery scope. Some lines may be ready to choose while another remains open. Keep the buyer's selection and the supplier's confirmation attached to the relevant quote revision.
At BuyFromGuangzhou, the approved details can become the supplier-by-supplier order and receiving record. When cartons arrive, we can match the supplier and order line, count the goods and check the agreed labels, accessories, packing and visible condition. An unclear item is photographed and held for clarification before release. That is where the comparison sheet earns its place: it gives the receiving team a concrete requirement to check.
Live Tracking and order dashboard updates make that progress visible through receiving, checking, issue notes and readiness for consolidation. They help the buyer see which selected lines can enter the shipment and which still need a decision. The confirmed goods can then carry through to packing records, export-document preparation and the forwarder handover.
If you already have competing auto parts quotations, send them with your parts list, quantities, destination, required timing and any quality or packing requirements through the Contact Form. BuyFromGuangzhou can review the China-side purchasing and fulfillment scope with you. Your current files are enough to begin; mark the points that are still undecided.

FAQ
What should I compare besides the unit price?
Compare the actual part and supplied contents, unit, quantity/MOQ, packing, checks, timing, payment conditions and delivery scope. Keep unanswered items visible until the supplier confirms them, then compare the cost of the same required order.
Can I compare quotations that use the same OE number?
The shared reference is a starting point for matching the offers. Confirm the quoted version, side, brand or condition claim and included components; the number alone does not establish that the physical offers are equivalent.
How should I handle a lower price with a higher MOQ?
Confirm whether the minimum applies to each SKU, variant or the complete order. Compare the actual quantity and total commitment needed to obtain that price, and decide whether the additional stock fits your replenishment plan.
How do I compare an EXW quote with an FOB quote?
Record each quotation's exact rule, version, named place and included work. Obtain the missing costs for a common comparison endpoint and avoid adding a charge already included in an offer. Keep the remaining uncertainty separate from the confirmed total.
Does a supplier's lead time mean arrival at my warehouse?
Only if the quotation defines it that way. Ask what starts the clock and which event ends it, then distinguish supplier dispatch from domestic delivery and any later shipment stage.
How does the chosen quotation connect to order tracking?
Keep the approved supplier reply linked to the purchase and receiving line. The order dashboard can then show arrival, checks, unresolved differences and release status against those requirements. Tracking makes execution visible; the physical checks still need to happen.
